Rape and sexual assault leave devastating scars on our society, and as many as 2 out of every 3 women in South Africa can expect to be victims of this terrible crime, and a recent survey carried out showed that one in four men in South Africa had committed rape. (South Africa’s Medical Research Council).

Even if you have not been raped or do not know a rape victim, this violent crime affects you.

International research shows that , as a direct result of rape, business is affected - it costs business  billions of dollars each year - in medical costs, legal costs and in lost production while the victim recuperates, seeks alternative accommodation and puts their life back together.

In our active fight against the this evil we are preparing to launch a one stop crisis center in 2010—a one-stop sexual assault centre that will be manned 24/7 by highly trained police, medical and counseling personnel.  For more information please visit  www.ordinarypeople.org.za
