Empowering people through employment
This program runs in tandem with the Skills Training program, offering the vulnerable people within this program the opportunity to generate an income. The goods produced by the people in the various skills training projects, are sold, generating income for the artisans who created it, and purchasing more raw materials. The aim is to allow the individual artisans within the various projects an entrepreneurial opportunity, which then enables each person to become self-sustaining.
As part of this program, Living Waters operates a coffee and gift shop, which runs from the Living Waters Centre. This coffee shop not only provides vulnerable women with an employment opportunity, but also provides an outlet for the goods manufactured in the skills training program.
Living Waters pilot empowerment through employment program is Brilliant Braaing, a business that is now self-sustaining, and employs three men. Fire wood is cut, stripped and professionally packaged. Brilliant Braaing supplies various retail outlets throughout the East London area.
